“The Disobedient Sisters” is part of our Three-on-Three program that brings three young people together with three professional theatre artists: a writer, actor, and director to put a little known fable through the adaptation process.

Four groups of 6 people (3 adult artists and 3 kids) are each responsible for adapting the same fable but from a different character’s perspective.

Last July, 12 kids and 12 adults participated in five-day workshop lead by Steve Totland that included theatre games, writing exercises, story telling, movement, improvisation, and break out sessions to re-interpret the material at hand.

At the end of the workshop, the writer from each group took the raw material generated at Angels Gate and turned it into a short play for his/her cast to be performed at the Miles Playhouse in Santa Monica on Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6 at 7:30 and on Sunday, November 7 at 3pm.

“The Disobedient Sisters” is funded by a grant from the Santa Monica Police Department.
